Relais Villa Caruso

Villa Caruso was the heart of the farm that was in the possession of the famous tenor Enrico Caruso. Here lived the estate manager and here were situated the oil mill, the wine cellar and the laundry where the women met to do the laundry boiling it with ash.

Cosetta, the house keeper has been living here for more than 60 years.
She’s the living memory of the villa and welcomes the guests with her educated and deferential manners of former times.
She speaks only Italian but she always makes herself understood.

The guests love her, they write her and give her little presents and when they are close to Florence they come over to visit her receiving in return some fresh eggs and a glass of nocino (nut liqueur) which is her speciality. Cosetta is a supporting column of the farm and I don’t know what I would do without her.

On the property of Villa Caruso we produce wine, olive oil and eggs and we raise chicken and wild rabbits like the tradition has taught us.
But the bus number 42, which goes to Florence, passes in front of our gate six times a day and this makes us feel close to the city as well.
